OSOT

Megan and Mary Kay,

I thought you would like to see this (although I know there have been similar scenes in many homes across the U.S.).

A middle school teacher I know offered to let her kids collect goodies for soldiers, for me to send for OSOT. This is the second collection this class has made for our soldiers. I sent the first batch only a few months ago. I thought you would like to see the result of the latest collection. I for one am proud that WP-ORG has supported this effort, as I know that this collection represents just a fraction of what others on the OSOT list have collected.

I am including this letter in the boxes as well as a letter from the teacher, with images of the students packing the boxes.

Dear __________,

As you will see from the letters in this package, a Middle School class in Rosamond California had a fund drive to send goodies to the soldiers in Iraq. We are members of an organization called "Operation Support Our Troops", and the boxes of goodies were collected and brought to me to inspect and distribute to you and your fellow soldiers. It represents the appreciation and concern of a class of pre-teens who wanted nothing more than to provide a bit of home to you.

I was given about 50 letters from students as well. I've read many of them, and I know you'll enjoy the thoughts and prayers from these students. Rather than send all fifty letters to just one soldier, I decided to distribute them evenly among the many boxes I am packing for you, thus allowing each of you to be able to read some of the thoughts and well-wishes of these students.

Pictured, is their teacher, Mrs. Veronica Karr, who brought all of these boxes filled to the brim to our home for mailing.

There are so many boxes, that we will have to take donations to mail them all. As a result, there will be many unseen contributors, who will help us pay for postage. Each of you has received just a fraction of the amount of goodies this class collected. The overwhelming response is due to the love and concern we all feel for you here at home.

Stay safe, and come home soon,
Dan and Dian Welle
