The non-partisan VOTERS GUIDE produced by the League of Women Voters of Texas Education Fund (LWV-TEF) (501C3) for the upcoming November 7, 2006, General Election is available.

This Voters Guide presents the unedited responses of candidates for statewide office to unbiased questions posed by the League.

The guide contains helpful voting information, useful websites, and more.  For this election, the League’s Voters Guide has special emphasis on judicial candidates in order to encourage the development of a more independent judiciary.  This project is funded through a grant from the League of Women Voters of the United States Education Fund and the Program on Constitutional and Legal Policy of the Open Society Institute.

Please consider purchasing the electronic version of the Voters Guide for $100 so you can print copies in your newspaper prior to the election, and upload or link an electronic copy to your website.

The Voters Guide is copyrighted, so no changes may be made to our questions or the candidates’ answers, and all candidates for a given office must be included.  We also request that you print our non-partisanship policy statement.  However we will give permission to edit the material relating to voting information if there are space limitations, and to delete any Courts of Appeal races that will not appear on your ballot.  All other races included in the guide are for statewide office.

LWV-TEF publishes a non-partisan Voters Guide for each of three elections:  the Primary election in March of even-numbered years, the General election in November of even-numbered years, and the Constitutional Amendments election in odd-numbered years.  We hope you will keep this opportunity in mind for future elections as well.

For more than 85 years, the League of Women Voters has been helping to educate Texas citizens about public policy issues and to involve them in our government. Thank you for helping us provide reliable information to voters in order to Make Democracy Work in Texas.
